This week's colors are monochromatic:

Color Dare #13 - Twilight, Sorbet, & Creme Brulee

I've got a question for everybody. Please respond in a comment with your opinion. What would you say if I opened up this color dare to everybody, not just those using CTMH products? I will still use current CTMH colors, but I will just say, "come as close as you can if you don't have the exact colors." Would that be a problem for anyone? Thanks for responding!

Congrats to the winner of last week's color dare: Romaine Rancier! I love Romaine's splatter effect and her pretty pins! She also got bonus points for attempting a one-layer card. Great job, Romaine!

Ruth's pick: Joyce Lau

Franny's pick: Lela N.

This week's colors are
Twilight
Sorbet
Creme Brulee

Lesson: Twilight, Sorbet and Creme Brulee are split complementary colors. They are shades of blue, red-orange, and yellow-orange. These colors look great with Saddle. Feel free to use your Clementine paper pack. You may also use any colors in our "basic" category.

Ruth made a beautiful layout using Clementine and the Make It From Your Heart book. She used Bingo and Trinity Alphabets, she made her own embellishments using the Clementine WOTG stamp set, and she used the exclusive 2012 convention stamp set (borrowed from me). Gorgeous!

Franny made a super cute card using Clementine. She hand stitched on the side and added Durables Studs. Adorable!

Here's the project of our guest designer from last week, Amie Kiger!
Aren't these teacher toolboxes adorable? You can find out more details on her blog.

Bonus Points: I made a card this week using the new Make it From your Heart how-to book. The artwork is GORGEOUS!!!!! I will give bonus points if you use a pattern from this book for your card or layout (bonus points are useful to me when choosing the winner, but not necessary).

Check out our side bar for complete rules and how to participate! I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Color Dare #12 - Blush, Hollyhock, & Olive

Hi! Welcome to the Close to My Heart Color Dare!

Congrats to our Shades winner last week: Amie Kiger! Franny's choice is Julia Hammond! Ruth's choice is Brenda Frerichs!

This week's color dare is:
Blush
Hollyhock
Olive
Lesson: Hollyhock and Blush are tints (pastels) of red. Olive is a tone of green. Red and green are complimentary colors. You will see this combination often because it is pleasing to the eye.

I found a new challenge called Less is More. This week they want you to make a Clean and Simple card with only one layer! If you are making a card, I will give bonus points if you use this challenge! They also want you to use fur or feathers. I forgot that part, so I can't enter my card, but trying the one-layer card was interesting and challenging.

Franny made a matchbox using the Artiste cartridge, 4 my Friend stamp set, pearls and Color Ready Seam Binding Ribbon. Her neutrals are Chocolate and Colonial White. Isn't it beautiful?

Ruth made a layout using Artiste and Art Philosophy. She used a layout pattern from the new Make It From Your Heart how-to book! Isn't it gorgeous?

Here is a real treat from our guest designer, the winner from last week, Amy McVey!!! Amy used a Mojo Monday sketch and Our new markers for this beautiful card. Stamps are Love Blooms and Card Chatter-Birthday.

Now create a project using the featured colors, take a picture of it, upload it to your blog, and link it up here. Bonus points for using 100% Close to My Heart products. Our complete list of rules are on the sidebar. Please read them! :) Happy stamping!

Color Dare #11 - Ruby, Goldrush, Honey, Sweet Leaf, Indian Corn Blue, & Cocoa

Welcome to Color My Heart, the exclusive Close to My Heart color dare blog! Thanks to everyone who joined in last week for the Ruby challenge. Scroll down to see the beautiful entries.

Congrats to last week's winner of the Color Dare: Amy McVey! She showcased some great new products including the new Artiste Cricut cartridge!

Ruth's choice: Marie Flayer!

Franny's choice: Carol Loftus! Franny loves the simplicity of her card and the cute button embellishments.

This week's color dare is a big one. Use any or all:
Ruby
Goldrush
Honey
Sweet Leaf
Indian Corn Blue
Cocoa
I made a card using the sketch from The Sweet Stop. The stamp set I used was from the Scroll Album WOTG. I used Cocoa, Honey, and Indian Corn Blue ink and Colonial White, Cocoa, Indian Corn Blue, and Honey cardstock. The embellishments I used were from the Mocha Opaques and Floret Paper Shapes collections, and I also used Burlap Ribbon.

Lesson: Today's lesson is about shades. We have already discussed tints (adding white to a hue) and tones (adding grey to a hue). Shades are - you guessed it - when you add black to a hue! There is a bit of black added to each of these colors, if only a little, all except for Sweet Leaf. I threw that in there for a bit of brightness. I also threw Cocoa in there. You can normally use any neutrals, but I'd prefer if you attempted to use Cocoa for this one.

Bonus Points: I will be awarding bonus points if you use a sketch (current or previous) from the Sweet Stop if you are making a card, or use a pattern from Magic if you are making a layout.

Ruth made a beautiful layout for her daughter:
Ruth's colors are not exact, but are very close to the featured colors. She used B&T's from Olivia (sunset), Dreamin' (pacifica), and Stella (tulip). She also used Sweet Leaf and Honey cardstock. Her bases are Colonial White and her lettering is done in Cocoa. She used the square from Baroque Alphabet for her banner, and she embossed her banner letters in colored embossing powder. The stitching and flowers are done with DMC floss, and she hand crocheted her flowers! Very pretty!

Here is Franny's card:
Franny used the Remarkable Wreath and Harvest Happiness stamp sets. Her background color was cocoa. She used colonial white as the background for the wreath, which is stamped in cocoa and goldrush. The acorns are also stamped in goldrush and cocoa, and the sentiment color is honey. This card really makes me long for cool weather. Thanks, Franny!

Now it's your turn! Here's what you do: Create a project using the featured colors. You must use Close to My Heart (CTMH) products to participate, but you may use other products as well. You will get bonus points if you use 100%, current CTMH products! Your project can be anything as long as there is paper in it. Examples are: scrapbooking layouts, cards, 3D items, altered items, and StudioJ layouts. You may combine as many challenges as you want, but please make sure you use only the colors in our challenge. Feel free to add any neutrals in our color palette to your project.

Take a photo of your project, upload it to your blog or online gallery, and link your post up here. You must provide a link to your post, not just to your blog in general. Please include a link to our site and our challenge photo on your blog post. You have until Thursday @ 8PM to link your work. Thanks so much, and have fun!
