Color Dare # 79 - Creme Brulee, Goldrush, Olive, & Twilight

Hi y'all! Welcome to Color My Heart! I've got some bad news and some good news this week. Unfortunately, Carmen will be stepping down from the design team. We will miss her, but hopefully, you'll spot her playing along sometimes! The good news is that we have 2 new design team members that I'd like to introduce to you:

"Since joining Close To My Heart in 2002, I have found many wonderful new friends and love to spend time creating cards, scrapbook pages, and other paper crafts.  Attending the annual Conventions and other corporate-sponsored events allows me to travel and enjoy visiting with my friends from all over the country.  My favorite thing about CTMH is that there are 40 exclusive colors - and the inks match the cardstock which match the background and texture papers which match the numerous embellishments.

We raised two children in our home in Olathe, Kansas and are now “empty nesters” which means I have more time to spend in my Stamp Room!"

"The creative process soothes my soul.  Who can think about the complications of life when you are creating?  I fell in with a group of amazing women who get together for fellowship, fun and paper crafting.   One day, a friend invited me to a monthly group to which she belonged ...just for fun.. .no need to buy anything…  Yeah, right!  I loved the Close to My Heart products!  It was in monthly group that I discovered card making which has become both therapy and ministry.  After I get the pleasure of making something, I can brighten someone’s day by giving it away.  By participating in challenge blogs, I have learned so much from fellow crafters who share their work and techniques and have also been inspired to join the Close to My Heart team.  I am honored to be part of the Color My Heart Color Dare design team."

Please welcome Sheila and Hansi to Design Team B! Sheila has volunteered to take over the weekly winner's post for me, so she will be posting that on Saturdays starting this week!

The other good news is that you will have a little extra time to play along. The linky will close at 9PM central time!

Today we have something different for you. I had originally planned this color combo for this week's dare:

Crème Brulee
Goldrush
Olive
Twilight

Then I got a suggestion to make the colors from the Cloud 9 CTMH cardmaking kit the challenge. They are:

Honey
Sunset
Lagoon

So, you get to choose! Choose one of these two combos to make your project with (or make 2 projects and use both combos)! As always, any neutrals are allowed.

I chose to use the first combo. I used the Florentine paper pack with the My Stickease to make this layout. You can find more details on my blog.

Here are the gorgeous creations from our Design Team:

Pam Korte (first combo)

Lela Norris (Cloud 9 combo)

Sheri Ballantyne (Cloud 9 combo)

Becca Whitham (first combo)

Now it's your turn! Make a project using the featured colors (either combo). If you don't have the exact colors, use the closest you have. Take a photo of your project and upload it to your blog. Include a link to us and our challenge photo in your blog post. Link your post (not your blog in general) up at the bottom of this page. Most importantly, don't forget to have fun! Please read the sidebar for complete challenge rules.

This week we are challenging you to use a seemingly odd combination of colors:

These colors do work together well, you just have to get creative! I used the paper pack which was an exclusive for convention-goers this past year. It was called Viva. I made a layout using a pattern from the How-To book, Reflections (Sidebar - Original). You can read more about it on my blog.

Our guest designer this week is Jessica Lessner. She made a beautiful, Clean and Simple rainbow card:

I hope you are inspired by the beautiful work from our awesome design team. Don't forget to leave them some love!

Color Dare #75 - Pacifica, Sky, & Lagoon

Happy New Year everybody! We're so glad you stopped by. We are saying goodbye to a couple of our design team members. Amie and Caroline will be leaving. We will miss them, but I'm sure they will still play along once in a while!

Our winners of our two-week Sparkle & Shine challenge are:

Hillary H. wins the Color Dare Diamond:

Sheila Bennett wins the Color Dare Emerald:

Cheryl Even wins the Color Dare Ruby:

Denise Elliot wins the Color Dare Sapphire:

This week we are having a monochromatic challenge:

Pacifica
Sky
Lagoon

Lesson: Monochromatic colors are different shades of the same color. Our challenge colors aren't exactly true monochromatic hues, but since they're shades of blue, it's close enough. Pacifica is a bright shade of blue with just a touch of green, Sky is a lighter shade of the same color, and Lagoon is a bright green-blue. I used scraps from the retired paper pack Magnifique to make a New Year's page. You can read more about it on my blog.

Our first guest designer of the year is our loyal participant: Jody Gustafson! She made a pretty clipboard calendar.

Now check out the work of our amazing design team:
